Has the Resistance of 1940 been erased? The example of the Grenier-Godard network in the Côte-d’Or region
Organised and commanded by Blanche Grenier-Godard since summer 1940, the French Resistance group Grenier-Godard was officially recognised on February 21, 1948, as one of the movements of the French Internal Resistance. Honoured locally in 1949, then nationally in 1950, this movement then fell into complete oblivion. This article highlights the difficulties in writing the history of an early resistance movement. The fact that women were highly present in the movement was a key factor in its invisibilisation. Lastly, this article explains why specific circumstances within the Grenier-Godard family led to the group being forgotten.
