The Confédération syndicale des familles: A regional survey

English

The article presents the results of a survey study among the 236 adherents of the Confédération syndicale des familles (CSF) in the Rhône-Alpes region, completed with interviews with activists. Some already known specificities of the CSF’s recruitment are confirmed, such as its large portion of women members, recruitment rooted in the urban working classes, and a leftist positioning, but some notable trends are also brought to light, such as a clear ageing and a decay of Catholic identification, that suggest a weakening of the social basis for this family-based unionism.
