New repertories of action : how French activists use Internet.
The traditional forces behind the actions of associative engagement are changing. They have moved on from the path of classic militancy to a more restrained form of engagement. The symptoms of this evolution can be seen as much in the renewed modes of collective action as in the various forms of sociability. In addition, the development of Internet uses by some of these associations would clearly seem to indicate the technological expression of this neo-militancy. The present article aims at examining some of the communication practices linked to the development of these « new » telecommunications networks, concentrating, in particular, on the renewal of associative militancy.
